LUXURY MEETS SUSTAINABILITY

FINE JEWELRY MADE FROM RECYCLED 14K GOLD

At Saylor, our mission is to redefine the narrative of luxury jewelry by placing environmental consciousness at the forefront of our design philosophy. Inspired by the ocean's vast beauty, we craft each piece with an organic and raw aesthetic, which reflects our commitment to sustainability. And by using exclusively recycled 14k gold and ethically sourced salt and pepper diamonds, we strive to minimize our environmental impact while creating timeless pieces that last a lifetime.

WHY CHOOSE RECYCLED GOLD

We acknowledge that the environmental impact of recycled gold is not zero; however, it is the more sustainable option. In fact, one gram of mined gold generates 36,410 grams of greenhouse gases, the recycled gold equivalent generates only 53 grams. Melted down, gold can be reused time and again without losing its purity or value, making the societal and environmental benefit tremendous.

When no longer in use, jewelry and other gold-containing materials are separated from their component parts. The gold is melted down and refined to remove unwanted elements and leave gold in its pure form.

Reasons why recycled gold is often seen as the more sustainable option:

Reduces Mining Impact: Gold mining can have significant environmental consequences, including deforestation, habitat destruction, water pollution, and soil erosion. Using recycled gold helps decrease the demand for new mining operations, thereby reducing the environmental impact associated with extracting gold from the Earth.

Energy Savings: Extracting gold from ore requires a substantial amount of energy. Recycling gold, on the other hand, generally involves less energy compared to the entire process of mining, refining, and processing newly sourced gold.

Reduces Chemical Usage: Gold extraction from ore often involves the use of chemicals, such as cyanide and mercury, which can have harmful effects on ecosystems and human health. Recycled gold requires less processing with these chemicals, contributing to a reduction in their overall use.

Conservation of Resources: Recycling gold helps conserve natural resources by extending the lifespan of existing materials rather than relying solely on the extraction of new resources.
